The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking experienced **Experienced** **Aircraft** **Machinist** to join the **Air Dominance Operations team** working in the **Advanced Composite Fabrication Center (ACFC)** located in **Mesa, AZ.** This position will require strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively work with the build team to support various proprietary programs. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

**Job duties include but are not limited to:**

+ CNC machine operations (Trim and Drill)

+ Water-Jet machining operations (Trim)

+ Ultrasonic core carving and composite machining

+ Fabricate, modify, and repair metallic or composite production and aircraft parts and assemblies using manual or CNC mills, lathes, jig bores and grinders.

+ Identify nonconforming parts and assemblies and processes.

+ Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes.

+ Set up and use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as: dial indicators, micrometers, protractors, calipers, bore gages, and other related close tolerance measuring equipment.

+ Develop layouts required to fabricate machined parts. Plans sequence of operations; makes calculations for tapers, angles pitch root and thread diameters dimensions, and cuts.

+ Set up equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders and drill presses; determines proper tool sequence for machining prototype detail parts.

+ Ensure all work is free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and complies with engineering specifications.

+ Report all non-conformances to supervision.

+ Follow all safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions to safety officials or supervision.

+ Reports job status and restraints to coworkers and supervision.

+ Recommends design changes to engineering and manufacturing staff.

**This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.**

**This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.**

**Basic Qualifications (Required):**

+ Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

+ Must have High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

+ Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Senior CNC Machinist/Programmer will produce machined parts by programming, if qualified, setting up, and/or operating either a conventional, numerical control (NC), or computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintain quality and safety standards; precisely follow job packet requirements; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies; communicate effectively and work productively with Engineers, maintenance personnel, and other operators/programmers. Perform machining tasks to tight tolerance, minimize scrap and rework, perform PMs on regular basis, lead machine safety and workplace compliance requirements, always demonstrate professional conduct, maintain an inventory of tooling and fixtures, work effectively with vendors in ordering and acquiring tooling.

You will have the opportunity to:

+ Plan and review machine job by reviewing job packets, engineering drawing, dimensional specification and tolerance, machining operating parameters and interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

+ Step- up machines, operate machines using established protocols, perform dimensional measurements to fill production orders

REQUIREMENTS:

+ Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent

+ A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

+ Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications

+ Must be proficient in utilizing computer software, SAP, ETQ

+ Proficient in the use of other computers and software packages needed to function as a productive Machinist in a challenging environment

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, sets up, operates, and adjusts various types of conventional or automatic machines including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision equipment. Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment. Work is routine and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.

JOB DUTIES

• Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders. Sets up, adjusts or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

• Measures, examines or tests completed units to check for defects and ensure

conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers. Calculates dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or Vernier calipers.

• Monitors the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition. Operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.

• Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

• Uses various bandsaws, cutoff wheels, table saws, and pedestal grinders .

• Lays out, measures and marks metal stock to display placement of cuts. Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools. Sets up or operates metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding or cutting equipment.

• Installs repaired parts into equipment or install new equipment. Checks work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.

• Designs fixtures, tooling or experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.

• Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics. Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance.

• Tests experimental models under simulated operating conditions for purposes such as development, standardization or feasibility of design. Install experimental parts or assemblies, such as hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, lubricants or batteries into machines or mechanisms.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a high school diploma or GED.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

• Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes required.

• Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software required.

• Knowledge of mathematics and its application required.

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods required.

• Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly required.

• Ability to safely use or learn to use piranha, metal shear, and metal breaks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and stand for extended periods of time.
