Assist and provide technical expertise to plan, organize, and control sampling and analysis activities to provide a safe, environmentally responsible, cost efficient, accurate quality assurance/quality control services in supporting the Company's operation to meet its performance goals and objectives according to the Company's policy and procedures. Focus efforts on maintaining and improving the performance of the QC Lab in terms of assay accuracy, reproducibility, safety, and communications to stakeholders. Also responsible for the upgrades of the current Lab facility to meet the required Turn Around Time necessary for assays.
**_Additional Responsibilities:_**
1. Assist and provide technical expertise to plan, organize, and control sampling and analysis activities efficiently and effectively, to include but not limited to the following to provide Assay & Analytical Laboratory services:
+ Sampling preparation activities at underground mine to provide information for the GBC, DMLZ, and KL Mine production and planning.
+ In/On-stream analyzer calibration, Mill sampling and analysis activities including raw material feed and intermediate stream flotation sampling and analysis, to provide preliminary information on metal content in the concentrate.
2. Assist and provide quality technical expertise to direct and control the developed and implemented Assay & Analytical standard operating procedures to meet the internationally recognized standards, and to ensure the achievement of QA/QC Laboratory operation performance objectives according to company policy and procedures.
3. Assist and provide technical expertise to plan, organize, and control Assay & Analytical Laboratory facilities including ventilation equipment to control air borne acid and dust contaminants, sample preparation equipment units (drying ovens, crushers and pulverizes), balances, ICP Spectrophometers, LECO Carbon Sulphur Analyzer, AA Spectrophotometer, XRF Spectrophotometers, XRD Mineralogy Analyzes, Auto titration units, Microwave, Ion Selective Fluorine Assay Test, electro-gravimetric analyzers, fire assay furnaces, particle size analyzers, units in order to ensure the availability and reliability of QA/QC facilities in supporting its activities.
4. Improve Assay & Analytical Laboratory services including conducting best practice research to obtain more accurate and cheaper sampling and analysis activities, to increase QA/QC efficiency and effectiveness in achieving its customer services objectives and meet with ISO 17025.
5. Assist and provide financial expertise to develop and control Assay & Analytical Laboratory annual capital and operating budget, to provide guidelines for the yearly QA/QC activities and ensure the achievement of QA/QC financial objectives within the allocated budget.
6. Review daily reports, to ensure the achievement of Assay & Analytical Laboratory Quality objectives.
7. Interact with the departments site-wide to provide timely assay data for Mine Engineering, Geology, Resource Management, Mill Operations, and Concentrate Sales.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in chemistry with at least ten (10) years of working experience with large scale, complex mining or commercial laboratory, or analytical chemistry specialist with at least fifteen (15) years working experience in a mining or commercial laboratory environment.
+ Familiar and understanding with ISO 17025 implementation.
+ Knowledge of analytical chemistry related to the mining industry.
+ Analytical skills, including knowledge in statistical analysis.
+ Strong mathematical ability.
